Our work

Awareness is where action begins.

Sprout for Change connects sustainability knowledge with actions young people can try in everyday life, at school and in their communities.

Our activities develop in phases. Each section below is labelled with where it stands today.

First General Meeting

Thirteen members attended our first general meeting to share departmental updates and discuss our constitution, website and future activities.

The meeting also covered monthly sustainability themes, publication plans and opportunities for collaboration.

Exploring Public Views on GM Foods

Collaboration with Hopemeals

Working with Hopemeals, we conducted street interviews exploring public understanding of genetically modified foods.

  • What people understand GM foods to be
  • Whether they would choose a GM or non-GM product when price and appearance are similar, and why
  • Whether foods containing GM ingredients should carry mandatory labels

Current status: The interview video is being edited and has not yet been published.

Awareness & Advocacy

We produce regular social media content that helps young people see sustainability in familiar places and choices.

  • Simple sustainable habits
  • Sustainability issues relevant to Hong Kong
  • Student stories and perspectives
  • Low-carbon and low-waste living

We also plan online campaigns and challenges that encourage young people to try practical environmental actions.

Student-Led Projects

Our aim is to support young people in creating and leading small sustainability projects that make sense for their own schools and communities.

  • Waste reduction and recycling initiatives
  • Zero-waste week challenges
  • Energy and water conservation campaigns
  • Green transport initiatives
  • Low-carbon lifestyle projects

These are examples of possible projects. They should not be read as completed S4C programmes.

Community Action

Our longer-term approach includes sustainability campaigns, community initiatives and workshops.

Before expanding those activities, S4C is focused on building an engaged community and collaborating thoughtfully with like-minded youth groups.

One phase at a time.

In our first phase, we are building posting habits, an initial audience and trusted relationships. In the next phase, that foundation can support eco-habit campaigns and sustainability initiatives.

Grow with us

In context

Hong Kong is where S4C begins. Our content and projects aim to connect environmental ideas with the practical choices young people make in a dense, fast-moving city.

Bring a student idea to the conversation.

We welcome thoughtful messages from students, schools, student organisations and youth groups.
